Since I, LaVerne McLeod, retired from school teaching, I have re-invented my life.  In my new life I have discovered a passion for playing golf and a re-kindling of my entrepreneurship pursuits, adding a social entrepreneur component.  Out of this, SurLady Golf^SM, my online ladies golf shop selling accessories and golf gifts, was birthed. 

She (SurLady Golf) seemed to have arrived at a time when the worlds’ economy and especially our nation is in serious need of re-structuring. As a result of the way our nation had been headed, we were and still are all socially impacted as well as affected environmentally, and health-wise.   Had our economy been put to use for the greater good of mankind, then I wouldn’t have to put this into words. It’s just time for a win-win for everybody; our communities, our nation, our global neighbors and our planet wins.

It was founded by the younger sister of Susan G. Komen (Nancy Goodman Brinker) who promised to her sister prior to her death of breast cancer diagnosis that she would find a way to speed up breast cancer research.  Since the inception of the organization in the early 80ties this large charity has contributed to breast cancer research, education, and health services.  You may know or have known someone with this disease. 2. We offer an opportunity to help our global artist neighbors in Africa (Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Kenya, Zambia, Rwanda, & Uganda). Your purchase of Bridge for Africa high quality handmade products helps alleviate prostitution for the women and supports families & communities in eliminating poverty through the use of their artistic skills.  Approximately 10-15% of the wholesale cost of Bridge for Africa products that SurLady Golf purchases goes back to these African artisan groups, and the remainder cost of goods is re-invested into community development, training initiatives, and shipping and operational expenses. Bridge  for Africa is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and Co-op America.  Workers are treated with dignity and respect while receiving fair wages.
